A Simple Meditation With Eyes Open
A good time to do this meditation is at dusk or evening.
With no lights on in your home and the window furnishings open to allow street lights or moonlight.
You can sit on the floor with your back against a wall or use a chair if you need more comfort.
You can look out into the night through your window, allow your gaze to soften and then allow your thoughts to roam.
Breath rhythmically and deeply and focus on your breath for a few moments.
Go back to your thoughts.
What do you wish to explore with this meditation?
Perhaps you have a loved one who has passed over and you wish to connect. Just bring them into your mind and memory in a loving way. You can inquire as to what is happening with them now. You may receive a word, a vision, an idea, or a feeling that you will be able to convert to words as you dwell on your memory of them.
Otherwise, you may wish to explore events in your current life.
Considering your deep breaths as a focal point for a few moments and then allow your mind to explore your current situation. Again, be soft of focus, loving in thought and inquiring in your nature. Allow the thougths to flow and just accept them. Lead your mind in the direction you wish to go. Unwanted thoughts are simply recognised as having occured and you move on to what truly matters to you.
No emotion, except love, appreciation and acceptance.
When you are ready to leave your medatative state, allow your focus to be aware of the view, the window, the room and then your body. Bring yourself gently back and move your body a little until you are fully alert, feeling fine.
