Practical Tips For Reducing Stress

My original chosen career of nursing was extremely stressful, especially because I was already a nervous individual.
Stress levels escalated when I went into psychiatric nursing.  This is also the time I started meditation.  Initially learning progressive muscle relaxation, visual imagery and other relaxation techniques.  I had no idea how much I would need these skills in the future, but I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to learn them so early in my working life.

Progressive Muscle Relaxation -
Lying comfortably on the floor, with a pillow if you need it.
Focus on your breath for a few moments - deep, slow, relaxed breathing.
Take each part of your body, starting with your right hand.  Clench your right hand tightly just for a second or two and release.
Feel the relaxation in your right hand as you release the fist and release all the tension.
Next, do the same with your left hand.  First tightening into a fist and then releasing.  Releasing all the tension.
Now, one by one take each of these areas of your body, tighten and then release/relax -
Right side - forearm
Left side - forearm
Right side - upper arm
Left side - upper arm
Chest
Abdomen
Upper legs
Lower legs
Feet
Buttocks
Lower and middle back
Upper back
Neck
Scalp
Face

You are welcome to attend Relaxation classes held in Mermaid Beach every week. You will receive personalised attention so you gain the skills needed to easily relax both physically and mentally - 07 55 545 661

You can start getting peace of mind with other tools that Naturopaths use, such as Hemaview Live Blood Analysis, Iridology, Acid alkaline balance and the like, by assessing your physical health.  Your mental/emotional health will benefit from meditation and other relaxation methods such yoga and EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique).  HeartMath is another computer based assessment and treatment tool that measures your nervous systems stress levels and then allows for biofeedback to achieve perfect balance; putting you 'in the zone'.

When you are at your best, you will be able to think clearly, have great memory, quick problem solving ability, better focus and concentration and even better intuitive ability.  HeartMath is available during a Naturopathic consultation with Romi at clinics in Brisbane and the Gold Coast - 04 2121 8469
